Weather in Korea

Winter

Korean Weather• The temperature usually doesn't go below freezing but it can get quite cold in Korea during the winter months (December – March), so be sure to bring appropriate clothing for this season
• January is the coldest month of the year in Korea
• Korea usually doesn't see a lot of snow, but certain pockets in the country (i.e. the Daegu region) tend to experience a little more than others

Spring

Korean Weather• Is quite nice, with warm temperatures and nice weather patterns
• In March and April, there is the nuisance of the 'yellow dust'. During this time of year, the air can be blanketed with this dust, resulting from the clear-cutting that is done by neighboring China and Mongolia
• This is a beautiful time of year for the famous cherry blossoms. The trees are full with blossoms, presenting a unique beauty which is only seen for a short time each year. Be sure to attend the 'Cherry Blossom Festival' when you are there

Summer

Korean Weather• Can get quite hot and humid in Korea, especially in certain regions
• The monsoon season usually starts in July and runs through to August. You can expect brief and frequent rain spurts during these months
• August is the hottest month of the year in Korea
• Be sure to explore the southern islands and coastal cities for an escape to the sea. Jeju Island is a popular, cheap and great escape for summer vacation

Fall

Korean Weather• The weather in the fall is usually cool and sunny with clear blue skies
• The leaves are changing and the air is crisp; this is a great time of year to go on nature hikes and explore the colorful tree-lined mountains
